Pete Universe 004 - The Wonderful World of Manga

Shownote from Wikipedia:
Ichigo 100%

I had boatload of fun drawing this strip! Anyway, I didn't include Astro Boy in the shownote because, well, shame on you if you've never heard of Astro Boy. Now, Time Patrol Bon is a different story. It doesn't exist on the Internet! Unbelievable, I know! It's the first thing ever that I can't find ANY INFORMATION OR IMAGE about it, let alone a scanlation. It doesn't even exist in AnimeNewsNetwork.com and the only mention of it anywhere is on a Thai blog where a guy there pick up the same limited run re-release as me. And the only reason they re-release it is because the copyright just die out so they don't have to pay a cent back to Japan.

Anyway, Time Patrol Bon is a 6 volumes series of Fujiko F. Fujio. (Yes, he created Doraemon.) T.P.Bon is a story about Bon, a japanese boy in the 80's who became a Time Patrol. Time Patrol's duty is to went back (or forward) in time and make sure that certain important person in the history of humanity stay alive and on course lest the history itself, past-present-future, crumble down.

It's the most educating sequential art I've EVER read, and it's not even under Educational manga section! Instead of reading history book, each chapter Bon went to these important era and through his eyes we see a "comic" version of the turns of event that took place. Beat the crap out of history book. It's not just about observation, though. Many times that Bon could use his equipments to save lives but couldn't because they had to die for our history. The best chapter IMHO is the Witch hunt where Fujiko F. Fujio got guts to draw out elaborate torture scene complete with nudity - just like Berserk - in a children manga to show that we are really really stupid to let that kind of thing happen for real in the first place!

Pick up Time Patrol Bon if you're lucky enough to come across one. I highly recommended it.

I think I rant for far too long today. That's it. I'm out.

P.S. I challenge people to pick out manga titles on the shelves. Which series are they? Hint - like Ichigo 100%, they are all super-moe and all famous enough to have their own anime show.

We can only presume that the inspiration we provided was all contained within the first panel, since we're pretty up front about our general disdain for the entire moe movement. :)

Telling one's child about Odin should prove ample justification to call in Child Services.

yeah, my soul died at that moment, and with my last breath, I pull out my Giant Robo Dvds and Saint Seiya dvds and the Fenix punch me right away from the light. And made me remember that I must live to see the end of 20th century boys :P

@anime world order podcast (presumably Daryl Surat): Just for the record, it's suppose to be sarcastic. But, then, English is my second language... so nobody actually get it...
